Full membership for owners of Albacores

CAA Full Members pay annual dues of $60 ($75 after April 30), plus supplemental dues for participation in certain events.

Associate Members pay an annual fee of $27.

Community Club Members

Across Canada, several CAA-affiliated community clubs offer their members the opportunity to sail co-operatively owned Albacore sailboats.

Community Albacore clubs provide:

  • Affordable recreational sailing
  • Learn-to-Sail programs
  • Fun, challenging racing and regattas
  • Social opportunities and activities including group dinners and parties

Full members of CAA Member Community Clubs are CAA members entitled to:

  • Participate in CAA sanctioned/run races and regattas
  • Participate in CAA training, courses, and other events
  • Enjoy and support Shackles & Cringles sailing magazine
  • Attend CAA meetings and run for election to CAA executive
  • Proxy voting at CAA meetings
  • Advertise gear/equipment in albacore.ca classified ads

CAA Community Club Membership

CAA Community Clubs pay an annual fee for each co-operatively owned Albacore.

Requirements to qualify as a Community Club:

  • Own a fleet of at least 4 Albacore sailboats
  • Offer an organized program of teaching or competition during the sailing season

Community Clubs entitled to assign proxy voting rights to one member for each Albacore owned where annual CAA fees have been paid in full.

Benefits of CAA Membership

Newsletter and Communications

Members receive subscription to "Shackles & Cringles" newsletter with emails between issues on matters of interest to Albacore sailors.

Voting and Involvement

Full Members may vote at Annual General Meeting and run for Executive. Everyone welcome to share opinions with Executive.

Social Dinners

Invited to attend social dinners during sailing season at participating clubs (must contact first).

Storage and Launch Privileges

You are invited to store and/or launch an Albacore at the following Toronto Outer Harbour clubs for up to three days once a year for recreational sailing or to join the club racing.

Participating clubs:

Arrangements must be made in advance. This is beyond normal regatta practice for boat storage and launching.

Assistance

Members can ask questions and receive answers on:

  • Rigging and boat purchases
  • Finding boats or crew for regattas
  • All other Albacore-related issues
  • Finding free accommodation for regattas and other races/events

Racing

Members can:

  • Participate and/or helm at CAA regattas and series
  • Request hull and sail measurements for Albacore

Training

Available training courses:

  • Race training (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  • Race officials
  • Dinghy rescue
  • Boat repair

Members can:

  • Request CAA provide race training and workshops in their location
  • Access existing training materials for member-provided training events
